Waterfront recreation for colleges and universities

Give students easy access to the water as a recreation perk, a recruiting point, and a revenue stream.

Why it works for colleges and universities

Campuses with lakefront or riverfront property have an asset many schools don't, but it often sits unused outside of club teams and organized trips. A self-serve rack lets any student grab a kayak or paddleboard between classes or on a weekend, using the phone already in their pocket.

For campus recreation and student life, it's a visible perk to show on tours and in recruiting materials, and a simple way to support student wellbeing through time outdoors. It complements outdoor programs rather than competing with them: your program keeps running trips, classes, and certifications while the rack covers casual paddling.

Operationally, there's no student-worker shift to fill and no equipment cage to staff. We handle the gear, payments, waivers, and renter support, and the revenue share gives campus recreation a new source of funding.

Flexible partnership options

Choose the setup that fits your budget. We're flexible, and every option keeps the day-to-day work off your plate.

  • Flexible

    Custom arrangement

Want to cover part of the equipment cost for a larger share, start with a one-season pilot, or set seasonal terms? We'll build an arrangement around your budget and goals.

    • Terms built around your budget
    • Pilot-friendly
  • Larger share

    Own the equipment

Purchase the racks and gear yourself and keep a larger share of rental revenue. We still run everything renters touch: booking, payments, waivers, and support, for a small ongoing platform fee.

How a pilot works

We're choosing our first partners now. Here's what getting started looks like.

  1. Talk it through

Tell us about your property and goals. We'll look at where a rack fits and which arrangement makes sense.

  2. Agree on terms

Zero-cost, custom, or owning the equipment. We'll put it in a simple written agreement.

  3. Install and stock

We set up the rack, signage, and gear. Renters can book from day one.

  4. Review together

After the pilot, we look at how it went with you and decide what's next.

Questions we hear

Does this work alongside our outdoor program?

Yes. Your program keeps running trips, classes, and certifications while the rack covers casual, self-guided paddling.

How is safety handled?

Every renter signs a waiver and gets a life jacket with their rental, and Launch Lockers is insured. We'll work with your risk management office during setup.

What does a rack cost a property?

It depends on the arrangement. On a zero-cost deployment, we pay for the rack and gear, and a small portion of rental revenue is shared with you. You can also purchase the equipment to keep a larger share, with a small ongoing platform fee, or set up something in between.

Talk to us about a pilot

Tell us a bit about your property and we'll follow up to talk through fit, placement, and terms. No commitment.
